About Urangatang

What is Urangatang?

Urangatang is a network of web professionals working together to address customer needs, find generous and creative solutions, and meet our own financial goals within the context of our homes, families, and unique situations.

What exactly is the Urangatang mission statement?

Our Mission: To create an environment where each day brings an exciting new challenge, where innovation is embraced, integrity is paramount, and God is the glue that wraps us together. As a team, we work in supportive harmony, exceed every customer's expectations, and contribute that part of ourselves that creates something special; excellence.

Joining Urangatang

Do I have to pay to join Urangatang?

Heavens no!

Can anyone join Urangatang?

Yes and no. Anyone can apply for membership, but not everyone will be accepted. We have the highest standards in the business.

How do I become a member?

You can start by clicking here.

What criteria do you use to select your consultants?

We look for much more than just technical competence. The Urangatang community is made up of the very finest people. Our consultants are the cream of the crop, both personally and professionally. We evaluate each applicant carefully, check their references, and scoop up those people that resoundingly meet (or exceed!) the Urangatang mission statement.

What is the "Personal Inventory"?

The Personal Inventory is a series of 10 questions that will help us to know you better. For each question, you have a maximum of 20 minutes to respond. When you are completing the Personal Inventory, we strongly encourage you to wait until you have some stress-free, uninterrupted time to begin. You cannot change your answers later.

Privacy

Who gets to see my contact information?

Our Project Managers are the only people authorized to view or use your contact information, or your References and Preferences for that matter. They're the people who will contact you when it's time to bid on a project.

References and Preferences

Will you contact my references?

Absolutely. And be forewarned that we are quite thorough in our background checks. If you misrepresent any of your qualifications, we will take everything you say with a very large grain of salt.

Can't I just paste my resume into the "References and Preferences"?

No. A resume is too generic for our purposes there. Paste your resume on the "Resume" page where it's requested and complete the "References and Preferences" pages separately.

Roles and Skills

What happens if I exaggerate my skills?

Simple; your credibility will be shot. Just tell the truth; we've got the projects.

As I learn new skills, can I update my profile?

Absolutely. You can update your profile to include new (and improved!) roles and skills at any time.

Do I have to be proficient at all skills within a particular role?

No. Just indicate (honestly!) which skills you possess. When an open project matches your skillset, you'll become a candidate.

Bidding on Projects

Can I look at a list of the projects currently available?

No. If your background and personality are well-suited to a project, we will contact you.

Can I bid on multiple aspects of a project?

Absolutely. Just be certain that, should you win all aspects of it, you can still complete the project within the required timeframe.

Will you let me know what other consultants bid on a project?

No. All bids are private and final.

If I bid on a project and win, what will I be paid?

You will receive 100% of the price you quoted for the project.

Will you withhold taxes from my payment?

No. As an independent consultant, you are responsible for paying your own taxes. Urangatang is simply the vehicle that connects you with the quality consulting projects.

Will the lowest bid automatically get the project?

Do you always buy the cheapest suit? No. We look for someone with a solid background, a great outlook, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to see each project through to completion.

This 'n' That

Can I get a full-time job with Urangatang?

No. We don't offer employment; we simply hook you up with quality consulting projects.

Can I apply for multiple types of work?

Absolutely! Just make sure you're qualified to do the work.

I don't want to work full-time. Can I still be a Urangatang consultant?

Absolutely. Your schedule and approach are entirely up to you.

Can I really work in my pajamas?

Yup ;-}

I'm collecting unemployment. Can I still be a Urangatang consultant?

Absolutely. Since you are working for yourself, and not for Urangatang, you'll be paid on a 1099.
